Performance, Engine, and Comfort

(4/5)
When you’re investing in a massive SUV like this one, your first concern is performance. There are some drawbacks here and there, but the overall performance of this lineup is impressive. The battery is powerful enough to offer a high driving range. The interior is spacious enough, ensuring comfortable rides on long road trips.

Engine & Performance

(4/5)
GMC Hummer’s reliable battery pack delivers ample power and proves to be highly capable off-road. Its acceleration is commendation—the SUV goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. However, its braking performance needs to be improved. It’s rather easy to maneuver the vehicle with the rear-wheel drive setup, but with all-wheel drive, it’s quite a hassle.

Battery

Hummer is powered by a 206 kWh battery pack which generates 1000 hp of combined power and 1200 pound-feet of torque.

Transmission

The battery pack pairs with direct-drive transmission.

Suspension

It’s equipped with control arms for front and rear suspension. The top trim of the lineup offers adjustable air suspension.

Steering

The vehicle comes with electric-powered tilt and telescopic steering wheel with cruise and audio controls located on it.

Safety & Reliability

(4/5)
The lineup offers Super Cruise, GMC’s hands-free driving system as a standard feature in this lineup. There are plenty of safety and driver assist features which are given as part of the standard safety suite.

Brakes

The vehicle comes with front and rear ventilated disc brakes.

Airbags

GMC Hummer is equipped with standard dual front side mount airbags.

Electronics

Some of the key electronic safety features include blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, accident avoidance system, pre and post-collision safety system, and 4-wheel ABS, to mention a few.

Lights

The standard package includes LED headlamp, daytime running lights, auto delay off headlamps, daytime running lights, and dusk sensing headlamps.

Traction control

Traction control is a standard safety feature in this lineup which helps in preventing wheel slippage when the vehicle is riding through wet or slippery road conditions.

Fuel Economy

(4/5)

GMC Hummer’s fuel economy numbers are adequate, but we expected it to be higher, considering thatit’s an EV.

Gas per mileage consumption

Hummer offers 51 MPGe/ 43 MPGe/ 47 MPGe for city, highway, and combined, respectively.

Interior

(4/5)
The interior of this SUV is not only spacious, but it also comes with a host of features to maximize comfort and convenience. The most iconic part of the vehicle has to be the removable roof, which is available as an optional feature in this lineup.

Seats

The front seats have a legroom of 45.6 inches with 8-way power seats, lumbar support, multi-level heating, ventilated seats, and leatherette upholstery. The rear seats are so comfortable, with 38.9 inches of legroom, folding armrest, and multi-level heating. The pick-up truckish interior also includes a 5-feet bed to make your journeys extra comfy.

Design

The exterior styling is anything but ordinary—its rugged, truck-like styling and makes it stand out. The interior inevitably reminds you of a pick-up truck. However, the automaker uses cheap quality materials in the interior, which could be avoided, especially because they are charging so high for the lineup.

Infotainment

Hummer’s infotainment front is impressive. It comes with a 13.4-inch display screen, superior graphics quality, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wifi hotspot, Bose speakers, and satellite radio, making sure you stay entertained during long drives.

Overall height and space

The EV is 216.8 inches in length, 93.7 inches wide, and it has a height of 79.1 inches. It has a wheelbase of 136 inches.

Trunk space

The vehicle offers 11.3 cubic feet of cargo space, which is quite small in comparison to other vehicles in this segment.

Price and Extras

(3.5/5)
When you’re buying a premium vehicle like this one, it’s quite evident that the pricing will be on the higher side. But based on value, we feel the automaker could have offered more.

Market Price

You get 3 trim levels to choose from—Hummer EV2,Hummer EV2x , and Hummer EV3x. While all of them are well-equipped, we particularly love the top trim as it unlocks hands-free driving and has reliable off-road ability.

Trim Level Market Price
Hummer EV2 $87,000
Hummer EV2x $97,000
Hummer EV3x $110,295

AWD/FWD

All-wheel drive is available as standard across all trim levels.

Warranty

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUT is covered by a basic warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, EV battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles, rust warranty of years or 100,000 miles, roadside assistance for 8 years or 100,000 miles, and complimentary maintenance for the first year.

Extras

Verdict

While this massive SUV may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s an ideal choice for those looking for an off-road focused vehicle with a stylish flair. Sure, the automaker could improve the cabin materials and the efficiency should have been higher, but it attempts to justify its price tag by offering an energetic powertrain and premium ride quality.

On the pricing front, we have to keep in mind that GMC has a separate customer base in mind, who is actually willing to spend a fortune on a vehicle of this magnitude. So quite naturally, we cannot really criticize its high pricing table. But yes, this one gives you the peace of mind that you’re being less aggressive on the environment, as it runs on electricity. And despite being an EV, it proves to be highly capable while driving on adventurous terrains, just like its predecessors.

If off-roading is not a priority for you but you’re inclined towards buying an electric SUV, we would suggest you to look at other models in the market, such as Kia EV 6, Hyundai Ioniq, or Toyota BZ4X—they’ll save you some money while also offering a seamless EV experience.
